I’ve reconnected with old friends and made new ones. In my time here I’ve rediscovered change ringing and my passion for it and am excited to take on a leadership role in what will become my new home tower in Dallas. Though I have always felt like an outsider in Abilene due to my religious and political persuasions, I’ve always had a few friends and a few places where I felt like I belonged and I do not regret for a second “passing through” post grad school.

This will put me in a more prime location for the role I have been moved into and allow my company to close our Abilene office which all of us who have worked in this office felt was just a matter of time. At five years, said pit stop was much longer than I had initially anticipated or envisioned, but the time has now come for me to move on.Īs I have advanced within my company from administrative office assistant to a full-time lift plan designer, and with recent reorganization of the operations of my company, I will be departing the Abilene area and setting up camp in our new office in Kaufman.

When I moved back to Abilene to be with my family after grad school, I knew this was only a pit stop in my life’s journey. It doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I knew it would come eventually. I knew there would come a day when I’d have to write this article.
